“If January is the month of change, February is the month of lasting change. January is for dreamers… February is for doers.”

- MARC PARENT

Did you have a New Year's goal to set better boundaries? Are you letting it slip?

You’re not alone! As a recovering people-pleaser I know how hard it is to keep the commitment of enforcing boundaries in the salon and with our guests. I can also tell you with practice it is possible to be kind, caring, and firm.

Here’s 3 tips to get you back on track:

1. Know what you want to say before you say it!
Have that one client that’s always late or cancels last minute? Or someone who brings up topics you are uncomfortable discussing? Maybe you need to raise your prices but have a fear of the backlash. Having a script and knowing EXACTLY what you want to say is the first step.

Need help coming up with verbiage? Post in your Thrivers community for feedback.

2. Practice creates CONFIDENCE.
Practice in the mirror, practice on the way to work in the car. Practice with a trusted friend or family member. Having your words concise and rehearsed will make it less likely you’ll stumble over your words and if you do, less likely to backtrack or over-explain.

3. Feel the fear and do it anyway.
To this day my heart STILL races a little when I have to set a firm boundary or have an uncomfy conversation, but I promise you it gets easier each time. I can also tell you coming from the other side of setting boundaries that it’s so worth it, but first you have to do the uncomfortable or even downright scary thing.

You deserve a flourishing business and healthy boundaries are a part of that!

Thrivers of the Month

Signature Spotlight:

"Thriving Stylist Signature changed everything for me. A lot of what I worked on for years, I spent second guessing because I wasn't sure if each step of my module work was sufficient enough to get results. Once I was able to truly get personalized feedback, I felt 1000000X better about what I've built, and since June this year, I have grown my business even more, scaled back my hours, and seen consistent new clients each month. The confidence I have gained after Signature is something I wish for everyone. AND nurture your Google Business account. DO IT! It makes ALLLLL the difference with new clients!"

X Club Spotlight:

"I found Britt in 2018 and realized I was in a toxic salon environment. Listening to her podcasts, I knew I needed to leave. Shortly after, I moved into a suite. I joined Thrivers, and I'm so incredibly grateful to have invested in myself and Britt because it has legit changed my life and how I go about my business. I work less than I ever have, make more money than I ever have, and things are continuing to grow. I'm so incredibly thankful, grateful, and so damn proud of myself."
